The Sun and Moon are considered the Luminaries, but are often included in the Planets category when it comes to astrology charts. Your Ascendant falls under the Points category in this deck. I suggest the Luminaries and Ascendant as a starting point on your journey into your natal chart. Popularly referred to as your “Big Three”.

-Begin the spread by placing the Sun, Moon and Ascendant cards into position.

-Using your chart and personal placement sheet, find what sign your Sun, Moon and Ascendant are in and pull the corresponding Sign card for each.

-Add the Element and Modality cards that are shown on each of the Sign cards pulled.

Note: Your Sun, Moon and Ascendant can be in the same sign. In this case you will use the information on that card to all that apply

-Open to the Sun, Moon and Ascendant pages in your Alterlife Journal. Combine and analyze the keywords and concepts on your cards and take notes. You will come back to each of these pages, but this will begin your basic understanding of your Luminaries, Ascendant and the signs they're in.

Ex: For the Sun in Aquarius you would first place the Sun card, then pull the sign card for Aquarius. This card will indicate the element and modality that corresponds to Aquarius (in this case the element is Air, the modality is Fixed). This combination of cards will give you an initial understanding of the Sun in the sign of Aquarius placement.

Note: This is just one part of your natal chart. There can be other factors that completely over power or contradict the above information. If something doesn’t resonate at all, it is very possible you have an emphasis on another, opposing sign in your chart. As you continue to break down your various placements, it will all fall into place.
